Owner, Therapist
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Minnesota. I follow a holistic client-centered approach, meeting you where you are in your healing journey by using a wide variety of approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, creating awareness, mindfulness, self-compassion, and resilience building. I work with individual adults and also specialize in treating children ages 5-10 and their families in building trusting relationships that promote healthy emotional regulation, safe boundaries, positive relationships, increased self-esteem, and resiliency. I specialize in elementary-age children with complex mental health needs and families in crisis. I have experience with Depression, Anxiety, Work-Life Balance/Stress, Relationship Issues, Behavioral Issues, Anger Management, ADHD, Autism, Self-Esteem, School Issues, Peer Relationships, and Family Conflict.
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. My clinical experience includes private practice, individual, group, and family therapy, acute crisis care in a hospital setting, and child and adolescent residential placement. I am passionate about ensuring my clients feel heard. My goal is to work together with my clients and their families to build a collaborative relationship that promotes strength and healing.
When we are struggling, our brain loves to play tricks on us. My passion is to help create awareness of these brain tricks and walk this journey of personal growth with you. I want to help you replace that critical, judgmental self, the one who gets stuck in the past or future, with a more compassionate, accepting self, so you can find inner peace and learn to be fully present and engaged in your life.

Helping others help themselves has been the guiding principle of my life's work. With over 30 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of children, adolescents, adults, and families. My approach is rooted in the belief that healing and growth come through self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-compassion.
Self-discovery begins with understanding who you are and where you come from—recognizing how cultural influences, relationships, and life experiences shape your beliefs and behavior patterns. Through therapy, I support individuals in exploring these layers, empowering them to connect with their inner wisdom and realize their inherent capacity for living a fulfilling, meaningful life.
My therapeutic style is client-centered and relational, grounded in the belief that people are innately good and capable of making choices that align with their values and goals. I am trained in EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), both evidence-based treatments for trauma. My clinical interests and expertise include trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, shame, relationship challenges, parent-child dynamics, and attachment issues.
Recognizing the deep connection between mind and body, I incorporate mindfulness and a holistic perspective into my practice to support overall wellness. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive.
I am currently working with teens (15-17) and adults. I am not accepting new clients at this time. For more information, please contact me at nancy@lwcmn.com

I have worked in the mental health field as a marriage and family therapist and clinical supervisor for the past 21 years, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity and privilege to work alongside those seeking acceptance, support, clarity, and healing. As an MFT, I work from a relational perspective. I am dual-trained in individual psychotherapy and family systems, approaching client issues within the framework of their relationships. I believe people are naturally gifted with the tools, wisdom, and resilience to reach their greatest potential.
Special interests/training: Chronic worry & anxiety, self-esteem/self-compassion, parenting, couples, adult ADHD, resilience, health & wellness. I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology and Sociology from the U of M, Duluth, and my Master's in Counseling from the U of M, Twin Cities. I am trauma-trained (EMDR) and am board-approved to provide clinical supervision through the MN Board of Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT) and the MN Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy (LPC, LPCC).

Hi! I believe that healing begins when you feel safe, seen, and supported: just as you are. I use a person-centered and humanistic approach to therapy, grounded in compassion, authenticity, and collaboration. I don’t claim to have all the answers; instead, I bring curiosity and care into every session, trusting that each person holds their own inner wisdom. My role is to walk alongside you as you uncover what feels right and true for your unique journey. I see all age groups, couples, and families and tend to specialize in trauma and hardships.
For children ages 2-12, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT). This provides a nurturing space for emotional growth and self-expression through play.
With teens and adults, I often integrate motivational interviewing and other approaches such as brainspotting, narrative, attachment-based, somatic, and mindfulness therapies to meet each client’s individual needs.
I am also passionate about supporting helping professionals—therapists, teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, military personnel, and caregivers—who may be experiencing compassion fatigue or vicarious trauma. Having spent years in emotionally demanding roles myself, I understand the importance of finding balance between caring for others and caring for yourself.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Psychology from Minnesota State University and my master’s degree in Social Work from Augsburg University. I am licensed by the Minnesota Board of Social Work as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
